The Vocaloid Music Encyclopedia is [going to become] your one-stop compendium for Vocaloid music related needs! VOCALOID is a music synthesizing program developed by YAMAHA. Five companies (Zero-G, CRYPTON, PowerFX, Internet Co., and AH Software) create vocal fonts, called Vocaloids, which are 'virtual singing idols' whose voices and "personas" can be used by anyone to create music, lyrics, stories, art, and videos. As a result, the Vocaloid fandom and audience is quite large and spans across multiple continents. The 24 currently released Vocaloids are Leon, Lola, Miriam, Meiko, Kaito, Sweet Ann, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin/Len, Prima, Gackpoid (Kamui Gakupo), Megurine Luka, Megpoid (Gumi), Sonika, SF-A2 Miki, Kaai Yuki, Hiyama Kiyoteru, Big-Al, Tonio, Lily, VY1 (Mizki), Gachapoid, Nekomura Iroha, Utatane Piko, and VY2. There is also Hatsune Miku Append, a data library consisting of six additional voicebanks, sold separately from the original Hatsune Miku software. Kagamine Rin and Len have an Append package as well with three voicebanks each. The musicians who create Vocaloid music are referred to as "Producers", and they create everything from original music (created specifically for the "singers" to sing) to existing music covers. Other collaborators who actively create and contribute content for the Vocaloid fandom are artists, PV makers/directors, 3D modellers and programmers, fan fiction and fan comic (doujinshi) writers.
